Chapter 461 - 463: Supermom’s Grand Finale (Part 4)
Naomi Kenway looked at Ethan Shaw, sighing in admiration. "Your luck is really something else. I never win at rock-paper-scissors. Having you go was definitely the right decision."
She gave him a thumbs-up as she spoke.
Ethan Shaw took her hand. "With your encouragement, I’m sure the drawing for the houses will go just as smoothly."
Naomi Kenway nodded, not wanting to put too much pressure on him. "Just go and draw, don’t worry. As long as the three of us are together, it doesn’t matter where we live."
She lowered her head and asked Ian Shaw, "Right, son?"
Ian Shaw nodded vigorously. "As long as I’m with Mom and Dad, I’ll be happy anywhere! My teacher said home is wherever your mom and dad are!"
Naomi Kenway smiled and patted his head.
A smile touched Ethan Shaw’s eyes as well.
[How did my ship get even sweeter?]
[I used to think they were just a visually perfect couple, but watching them now, they feel so much more heartwarming.]
[I feel like Nina’s attitude has changed a lot. The way she looks at President Shaw now is so full of affection, completely different from before.]
[Yeah, I feel the same way. I always got the sense that to Nina, President Shaw was kind of... optional (not sure if that’s the right word, don’t flame me). But now, there’s real love in her eyes when she looks at him. It’s finally mutual!]
[Isn’t it a little weird? They’re already married, and it’s only becoming mutual now? Ah, whatever. Hehe, the sweeter the better. This girl loves her sweets!]
...
"Before we do the drawing, please come have a look at the houses. The five houses selected this time are the very same ones from the first season, so you should be familiar with them. However, it’s been a while, so you might not remember them clearly. Come on, everyone, come take another look."
The tour guide called out.
The guests stepped forward, staring at the familiar photos of the houses laid out on the ground. They were the same residences from the first season.
Chelsea Raines looked over, her face draining of color. "House Number Five is still an option? That broken-down mud hut? That place was already a wreck back then. You’re telling me it still hasn’t collapsed?"
"House Number Five is very sturdy. There’s no risk of collapse, so you can all rest assured," the guide said. He thought for a moment before adding, "Ever since Ms. Kenway stayed there, the conditions in House Number Five have improved considerably. The stove, table, and chairs are practically brand new."
He chuckled. "Whoever draws House Number Five will really have Ms. Kenway to thank. The place is in much better condition now."
"Everyone, please memorize the five houses. Number One is the cozy, fence-lined courtyard, filled with flowers and vegetables—the perfect choice for experiencing idyllic country life! Number Two is the goat house, which comes with penned-up goats and a separate kitchen. Any guests who love little animals should keep this one in mind!"
"House Number Three is the village chief’s two-story villa. It’s fully furnished and could be considered the village mansion. I remember it was the most popular house in the first season; I wonder if it’ll be just as popular this time. Number Four is a courtyard in the Republican architectural style. It’s a unique residence, and while it’s quite old, it’s been renovated several times to preserve its original look, so you can stay there without any worries."
"And House Number Five..." The guide smiled, looking up from the photo. "I won’t go into detail about this one. This house is for guests who enjoy a challenge. I wonder which ’lucky’ guest will get their hands on it."
The drawing began. Watched by an expectant Naomi Kenway and Ian, Ethan Shaw stepped forward and drew a stick from the bamboo tube.
Naomi Kenway stood beside him, watching his every move. "What number is it? Let’s see."
Ethan Shaw turned the bamboo stick over. "House Number Three..."
Naomi Kenway planted a kiss on Ethan Shaw’s cheek. "Amazing! Your luck is incredible. House Number Three is the most luxurious of all five."
Ethan Shaw couldn’t help but touch his cheek, the smile in his eyes deepening.
Naomi Kenway high-fived Ian. "Son, we’ve got a big house to live in!"
"Yay!"
With the best house already taken, the other guests’ enthusiasm plummeted.
"House Number Three was taken just like that? That’s a little too lucky, drawing Number Three right off the bat."
"Nina’s luck is so bad, but her husband’s is really good."
"Congratulations, Naomi! Your family got House Number Three. Maybe some of that good luck will rub off on me."
The other guests came forward to draw for the houses in the order determined by rock-paper-scissors.
...
Margaret Jennings’s family drew House Number Two, the goat house. Victoria Vance’s family drew House Number Four, the Republican-style house. Ruby Preston’s family drew House Number One, the cozy, fenced courtyard. And Chelsea Raines’s family... they got House Number Five.
Chelsea Raines’s face was a mask of misery. She stared at the glaring number "Five" on her bamboo stick, feeling too devastated to even cry.
Thinking of the creaky, dilapidated bed in House Number Five, she felt a little relieved Gene Woods hadn’t come along. With his size, it would have probably collapsed the moment he sat on it.
Chelsea Raines looked at Naomi Kenway and asked tentatively, "Would you... want to trade? I’m sure House Number Five holds so many fond memories for you."
Naomi Kenway shook her head. "I think you should keep House Number Five."
’She liked to stay optimistic and make the best of a bad situation, but if you have the choice, who would willingly choose to suffer?’
Chelsea Raines seemed to have expected that answer. She heaved a long sigh. "I remember laughing at you back then. I guess what goes around comes around. I can’t believe I ended up with House Number Five."
Aside from Chelsea Raines, the other guests were all quite satisfied with the houses they drew.
[House Number Three is as sought-after as ever, hahaha.]
[No kidding. House Number Three has a big-screen color TV and a large refrigerator. It’s fully furnished, and I heard there’s even a game room on the first floor. It’s way more luxurious than the other houses.]
[House Number Five is like a ghost that just won’t go away.]
[Victoria Vance got House Number Four? That’s not bad. Since she’s a new guest, I was so worried she’d draw Number Five and start the game on Hell Mode.]
[Hahaha, is it that bad? Naomi Kenway stayed in House Number Five back then, and she got through it just fine.]
[How many people are as capable as Naomi Kenway? Did you forget what happened when Mr. Jennings tried to copy her? Not every celebrity has those kinds of hands-on skills.]
[None of the guests drew the same house they had in the first season. What are the odds? It’s like fate or something.]
...
After the drawing was over, the guests began to search for their respective houses in the village.
With their experience from past seasons, they didn’t just run around like headless chickens. They asked the villagers for help and quickly got a sense of the right direction.
House Number Three was the famous village mansion and was very easy to recognize. When Naomi Kenway showed a villager the photo, they immediately pointed her in the right direction.
