Chapter 638: Trust Chopper!
Chapter 638: Trust Chopper!
"The power of the forest?"
The wind and snow were forcefully sliced through by the enormous, emerald-green body. Chopper ignored the deeper meaning of the Kirin Gom's words. He looked down at the hooves covered in shimmering green light. The light was warm and profound. A heavy heartbeat resounded in his chest. An ancient voice, long dormant within him, rumbled, urging him to stand up straight. That voice pushed him to face the ten-meter-tall Rain God.
Ahead, black water boiled. A pungent, corrosive stench filled his nostrils. Chopper's chest heaved. The fear etched into his bones was forced back into his chest. The fear vanished from the massive, majestic reindeer face. The huge head turned, locking onto Nami behind him once more.
"Nami, run!"
"Go to the north side immediately to support Sanji and the others!"
Nami stopped at the entrance to the north passage. A strong wind whipped her long orange hair. She tilted her head back, staring intently at Chopper's colossal, overwhelming figure. The sight before her shattered her common sense.
"Chopper, what happened?"
"Your current body"
Chopper raised one of his massive forelegs. The paw, wreathed in green light, pointed towards his broad chest. His emerald green energy robe billowed in the wind.
"I don't know either"
Chopper's voice was incredibly deep. Every word was clear and distinct.
"I cannot explain this change."
"This power is awakening within my body."
"Furthermore, it utterly despises the Celestial Dragon's black water."
This isn't a Rambo Ball going berserk. Nor is it divine power without consequences. This power only bites and kills that kind of dark, corrosive demonic energy.
Franky stood beside Nami. He raised his left arm. His right eye's electronic scanner activated. A blue scanning beam struck Chopper's emerald green coat. The screen flickered wildly with a blinding red light. The window was filled with dense green noise. A huge overload symbol shattered the screen.
The internal cooling system emitted a buzzing sound. Franky abruptly closed the electronic eye.
"No, it can't be scanned."
Franky yelled at Nami.
"The intensity of this energy has exceeded the instrument's tolerance limit."
Brook gripped the Soul-Slaying Sword. The ice beneath his feet was pitted and corroded by the black water. He pressed himself close to Chopper's massive feet. The instant he stepped into the green light's range, the overflowing chill of the underworld was abruptly suppressed. The cracks in his left arm, where the black water had splashed, stopped expanding. The dark, corroded marks were forcibly locked in place by the green light.
"Yohohoho"
Brook stared at Chopper with empty eye sockets.
"It seems our doctors have truly found a way to fight death."
Step. Step. Step.
Heavy footsteps thundered from the side. Zoro, carrying three famous swords, walked step by step to Chopper's massive side. The bandage on his right shoulder was completely soaked with blood. Crimson blood streamed down his arm. His remaining left eye swept over Chopper's mountain-like figure.
"At least I look like a ship's doctor who can go to the front lines."
Zoro, biting the hilt of his Wado Ichimonji, mumbled a sentence.
Normally, Chopper would have blushed and retorted, or twisted his body and shouted. But at this moment, Chopper didn't back down at all. His huge eyes were fixed on the powerful enemy in front of him. His front hoof, like a giant pillar, stomped heavily half a step in front of Zoro.
boom.
The ice surface trembled. Green ripples spread out.
"I will block those black waters."
Chopper's voice was as steady as a rock.
"You focus on killing people."
Zoro's lips curled into a bloodthirsty smile.
"Ah, leave it to me."
A hundred meters away. Kirin Gom's face contorted in agony. His once lofty pride was trampled into the mud. Two lowly pirates dared to treat him as a mere tactical target to be assigned arbitrarily.
"A foolish insect that doesn't know its own mortality"
Qilin Gom, enraged, laughed coldly. With a sudden wave of his hand, the faceless head of the Rain God cracked open, and a ten-meter-tall, pitch-black body of water churned.
Whoosh whoosh.
A dozen thick, black, watery tentacles shot out from the air, tearing through the snow like venomous snakes. Half of them lashed out at Chopper's massive knee joint, while the other half pierced Zoro's vital side.
Chopper neither dodged nor evaded. His thick right arm swept horizontally. His enormous emerald green feathers drew a fan shape in mid-air.
boom.
The black water tentacles slammed into the green-lighted feathered robe. A violent burst of white smoke erupted. The black water was firmly blocked by the life force. The tentacle's attack came to a fatal halt.
Right now.
Zoro transformed into a black-purple lightning bolt. He leaped into the air, riding the whirlwind created by Chopper's arm. His Shusui and Sandai Kitetsu clashed in a cross-cutting attack. Dark purple Armament Haki tore through the air.
"Two-sword style"
Two sharp blades pierced through with precision. More than a dozen black water tentacles were severed at the root. The black water lines collapsed in mid-air. The two had perfectly completed their first coordinated attack and defense.
The severed tentacles exploded in mid-air. Large amounts of highly toxic corrosive liquid poured into the north passage.
"Danger"
Nami shouted.
Robin crossed his arms instantly.
"Thirty rounds of flowers blooming"
Dozens of pale arms blossomed from the ice wall, connecting to form a net. They precisely avoided all the falling black water. Robin used a shattered rock as a pivot, her arms rotating in a relay. She gripped Nami, Franky, and Brook tightly, then forcefully hurled them into the depths of the north passage. Any arm that touched the black water would melt; she had to carefully manage her strength.
Everyone landed safely. Nami turned her head. Chopper's green body stood like a Wailing Wall, blocking all the black water. Zoro's sword flashed, tearing a gap in the black water. The main battle was finally under control.
Nami bit her lower lip hard. The taste of blood filled her mouth. She didn't look back.
"All personnel, listen to my command!"
"Continue the pursuit"
A clear sound tore through the wind and snow.
"Franky, you're in charge of breaking through the collapsed ice wall in front of you."
"Brook, freeze the black water residue on the ground."
"Robin. Ready to set up a foothold at any time."
Nami drew her Weather Stick and peered into the snowstorm to the north.
"I'll measure the wind direction and detect the lingering heat of Sanji's flames."
"We must catch up with them."
The four-man pursuit formation was established instantly.
"Leave it to me. Super."
Franky roared and charged forward. His heavy armored arms hummed. Blue light converged from the muzzle of his cannons.
"Wind Cannon"
Boom!
A massive, high-pressure air bomb slammed into the ice wall that had been collapsed by the meteorite. Shards of ice exploded everywhere. The narrow passage was forcibly cleared.
"Yo ho ho ho. Stay close to me."
Brook followed closely behind. The Soul-Slaying Sword glided rapidly along the ground. A chilling aura of the primordial green water surged forth. A thin layer of black ice formed on the surface of the deadly black liquid ahead. It would melt in a second. But that brief second was enough for Nami and Robin to glide across the ice.
A section of ice had already corroded into a huge hole. Nami was about to step into the hole when Robin's arm reached out from the side wall, grabbed Nami's belt, and forcefully lifted her away from the danger zone.
Qilin Gom Saint stared at the rats' retreating figures. The prey wouldn't escape.
"Don't even think about leaving."
The Rain God's massive body suddenly shifted to the side, attempting to bypass Chopper's defenses. His left arm rose, and black water spun rapidly in his palm. A five-meter-long black water arrow shot across the ice towards the entrance to the north passage.
Where would you like to see?
Zoro's cold voice rang out in mid-air. Three black swords slashed down simultaneously.
"Flying Dragon - Flame"
A flying slash, wreathed in azure flames, descended from the sky, precisely striking the middle of the black water arrow and cleaving it in two.
The black arrow shattered. Its tip, propelled by inertia, shot towards the passage.
Chopper let out a low growl. His massive arms thrust forward. A dazzling halo erupted from the rings on his forehead. A raging green wave of energy swept across like a tsunami. The shattered black water was forcefully pushed back onto the front lines by the energy wave, slamming into the chest of the Rain God.
Zoro landed smoothly, shaking off the remaining water from his blade. Chopper's massive body stood firm. The two, one human and one deer, stood like two abysses, completely blocking their escape route. They left no chance for Kirin Gnom to finish him off.
Nami turned back as she ran. She took one last look.
A fierce blizzard raged. Chopper's massive silhouette, radiating ancient vitality, stood tall. Zoro's three-sword style, shrouded in black and purple Haki, was imbued with power. The two stood side by side, blocking the Celestial Dragons who brought despair.
Nami's eyes reddened. She abruptly turned her head. Her Clima-Tact pointed directly at the ruins to the north.
"Full speed ahead"
Four figures rushed into the vast snowstorm to the north.
The terrain of the ruins became increasingly complex. The temperature in the rift valley to the north plummeted.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Three sharp, piercing sounds exploded above the rift valley. Nami looked up abruptly.
Three bright red distress flares soared into the sky. The first two stained the gray sky crimson. Just as the third reached its highest point, a thick, dark demonic mist shot into the heavens, swallowing the red light completely like a gaping maw.
The sky was deathly silent.
"That's Usopp's special emergency signal."
Nami's heart clenched. Her voice was shrill.
"Somaz Saint has caught up with them. Everyone, accelerate!"
Usopp's signal indicated that he and Sanji were on the verge of life and death.
"receive"
Franky activated the heavy-duty thrusters on his back. A dark blue tail flame erupted, smashing through the snow and wind like a tank.
Brook sheathed his Soul-Slaying Sword back into his cane. He glided rapidly across the ice.
Robin quickly formed hand seals in front of his chest. Petals danced in the air from the ice walls of the passage. Countless arms linked together to form a bridge, desperately lifting everyone's bodies and pushing them towards the north.
Hang in there!
"Sanji Usopp"
Nami gripped her Weather Stick tightly. She gritted her teeth and ran frantically through the snowstorm.
