Chapter 277: Chen Xun’s Rampage

Chen Xun gripped his Mountain Splitting Axe tightly as endless waves of corrupted beings surged toward him.

Moments ago, he had managed to slay a Nascent Soul-stage corrupted being that attempted a sneak attack. The eerie smile it wore as it perished lingered in his mind, haunting him.

These Nascent Soul-level corrupted beings didn’t possess nascent souls; they were merely amalgamations of spiritual energy, fundamentally different from cultivators’ forms and levels.

“Damn it, where do these things come from, and can they ever be fully wiped out...”

Chen Xun looked around, feeling a sense of confusion. He and Black Ox had the Five Elements Nascent Soul and their star fall technique, combined with their longevity. But ordinary cultivators lacked such advantages.

Even the deathly weapons he wielded were rare artifacts. The large-scale spells they employed weren’t something typically found in this realm, and slaying these corrupted beings often meant sacrificing one’s own lifespan.

“Old Ox!”

“Moo?!”

“Time to kill!”

Chen Xun shouted, throwing caution to the wind. “Let’s clear out every corrupted being in this area!”

“Moo moo!!”

A powerful bellow echoed as Black Ox unleashed the deathly aura from the black coffin on its back, no longer holding back. The terrifying shadow behind it began to awaken.

The two of them took positions, using their own vital energies as bait. The black soil lands became a battlefield as wave after wave of corrupted beings charged at them, the tainted blood streaking the skies and leaving the land in chaos.

Chen Xun’s eyes were calm as he glanced at Black Ox in the distance, feeling at peace—they were finally on the battlefield together!

Black Ox’s gaze was cold as the deathly aura from its coffin spread like a black sea, killing any corrupted being it touched, eliciting agonized howls. Whether they were living or not, deathly energy was the ultimate bane for all.

However, regardless of how the corrupted beings were slain—whether through artifacts or spells—their deaths always resulted in a chilling energy invading the attacker’s spiritual sense, forcing a drain of lifespan with no way to avoid it.

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

The battlefield echoed with thunderous blasts as the two dark silhouettes unleashed a deadly aura. The earth shook as the corrupted beings let out heart-wrenching screams.

The battlefield was filled with blazing red light as the conflict raged on.

On the shore.

The ship was entirely enveloped, a protective barrier of light cascading from the black and white leaves of the Crane Spirit Five Elements Tree, continually channeling the energy of the Five Elements into the formation.

Xiao Chi was overwhelmed, feeling helpless. The two older brothers showed no intention of letting him join the fight; all he could do was stay with Brother Crane and hold the fort.

“Brother Crane, let’s stay put and focus on support. We mustn’t get in the way.”

Xiao Chi finally calmed down, analyzing the situation. “There could be even more terrifying corrupted beings on this battlefield. If Brother Xun and Brother Ox are overwhelmed, we’ll have to be ready to flee.”

They became streaks of light, moving like lightning. Waves of deathly energy surged out, and brilliant flashes of light burst forth, filled with the volatile power of the Five Elements and the overwhelming force of the extinguishing storm. Everywhere they passed, life withered, and corrupted beings perished, leaving trails of blood for miles.

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

The black soil lands trembled as more corrupted beings rushed to the scene. The ground and sky were filled with the gleam of tainted blood as both sides clashed, a war of life versus death. The corrupted beings aimed to exhaust their enemies.

On the ship.

Xiao Chi watched the destruction in the distance, his breathing ragged. He was astounded that two Nascent Soul cultivators could unleash such devastation without fear of losing their lifespan.

“Brother Xun, Brother Ox, be mindful of your lifespan...”

Cold sweat dripped down Xiao Chi’s forehead as he saw the corrupted beings’ relentless attacks. “There are still so many places we haven’t explored...”

His expression wavered, his eyes trembling as he struggled. He couldn’t bear to lose more of his kin. The pain of loss was something he didn’t want to relive.

He truly... didn’t want that again.

Suddenly, a blinding flame erupted from the ship. A massive shadow loomed overhead as Xiao Chi’s lion-form Nascent Soul surged with essence. The essence flowed backward, transforming his body.

His form grew larger as the flames roared skyward, majestic and overwhelming.

*Roar!!!*

A resounding roar shook the battlefield as a hundred-foot-tall flameglow ancient lion emerged from the ship. Surrounding it were fierce flames, and an awe-inspiring presence.

The lion’s regal gaze swept across the battlefield, its might rivaling even the Demon-Suppressing Ape. Each step it took set the air ablaze, causing the very sky to tremble.

On the battlefield.

Chen Xun and Black Ox turned, their five-headed, ten-armed Nascent Souls standing tall on the ground, staring at the sudden emergence near the shore.

“Xiao Chi?!”

“Moo moo?!”

“Brother Xun, Brother Ox, I still have plenty of lifespan. Let me share the burden with you!”

Xiao Chi’s eyes blazed with fierce determination, his voice booming across the battlefield. “Corrupted beings, I, the Flameglow Ancient Lion, will—”

*Boom!*

Two flashes of lightning crossed the sky, reaching Xiao Chi in an instant. Two massive fists struck, sending his enormous form crashing into the ground, creating a giant crater.

Xiao Chi lay flat on his back, wailing out of habit, staring up in confusion at his two elder brothers.
